Business Development Manager – Marine & Protective Coatings (PNG)

About the role

AkzoNobel is seeking a Business Development Manager to grow sales of its International Marine & Protective Coatings brand across Papua New Guinea. The role focuses on expanding the client base, managing existing relationships, and securing specification positions on key projects while supporting regional business initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Develop new client relationships and nurture existing accounts within PNG.
• Secure specification positions on targeted marine and protective coating projects.
• Act as the primary contact for asset owners, fabricators, contractors, distributors, engineers, consultants, specifiers and architects.
• Provide technical advice, match specifications to end‑use conditions, and ensure rapid response to multiple concurrent projects.
• Contribute to sales and profitability growth, aligning with company and regional strategies.
• Gather and disseminate market intelligence and project opportunity information.
• Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of marine and protective coating technologies.
• Utilise standard sales and specification software tools and the in‑house Gaudi CRM system for planning and reporting.

Required profile

• Proven B2B sales experience in marine, protective coatings or a related industrial sector.
• Strong understanding of coating specifications and the ability to manage complex stakeholder networks.
• Excellent problem‑solving and communication skills, with a focus on customer satisfaction.
• Willingness to travel within PNG and work both independently and collaboratively with regional teams.

Required skills

• Experience with CRM systems, specifically Gaudi.
• Proficiency in sales and specification software tools.
• Knowledge of marine and protective coating technologies and technical specifications.
