Commercial Services Lawyer

About the role

New Porgera Limited is seeking a qualified Lawyer to join its Commercial and Contract Services Department. Reporting to the Head of Legal, you will provide legal advice and support to the mine’s operational teams, ensuring compliance with statutory requirements and internal policies.

Key responsibilities

• Assist with litigation matters, primarily at the District Court level, under the supervision of the Head of Legal.
• Provide routine legal advice to site functions on HR issues, Mining Safety Act compliance, and other queries.
• Review and prepare low‑risk, low‑value contracts such as donations and agreements with local landowners.
• Support site teams during regulatory inspections and audits.
• Assist the Supply Chain team with vendor compliance and Know‑Your‑Customer (KYC) processes.
• Prepare legal memoranda, conduct research, and draft documentation as directed.
• Engage with community and external stakeholders when required.
• Promote health, safety, and environmental compliance in line with NPL policies.

Required profile

• Qualified lawyer with experience in commercial and mining‑related legal matters.
• Strong commitment to confidentiality, statutory compliance, and internal policies.
• Motivated, team‑oriented, and able to meet departmental objectives.

Required skills

• Litigation support at district court level.
