Doctor – Medical Department (FIFO)

About the role

We are looking for a qualified Doctor to lead the Medical Department at Hidden Valley Mine. This FIFO position provides comprehensive medical care to employees, contractors and visitors while offering clinical leadership for the on‑site clinic.

Key responsibilities

• Provide medical assessment, diagnosis, treatment and case management for all site personnel.
• Lead emergency response, trauma care, triage and medical evacuations, including 24‑hour on‑call duties.
• Oversee pre‑employment, periodic, statutory and exit medical examinations and fitness‑for‑work decisions.
• Supervise, mentor and guide medical staff, ensuring clinical governance and quality standards.
• Liaise with external healthcare providers and emergency services to coordinate patient care.
• Ensure compliance with PNG medical legislation, professional standards and patient confidentiality.
• Advise site leadership on occupational health, workforce health and medical risk management.

Required profile

• MBBS degree and current registration with the Papua New Guinea Medical Board.
• Minimum five years post‑registration experience as a medical practitioner.
• Fluent in Tok Pisin and English with strong communication skills.
• Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary teams in remote, FIFO environments.
• PNG citizenship and willingness to undergo pre‑employment medical and drug/alcohol testing.

Required skills

• Advanced Life Support (ALS) certification.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Experience with electronic medical record systems.
• Experience with occupational health management systems.
