About the role
The Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (MEL) Officer will support the implementation of the STRIDES activity in Papua New Guinea. The role focuses on maintaining and applying monitoring and evaluation processes, supporting routine data collection, reporting, data quality checks, indicator tracking, and documenting learning for adaptive management.
Key responsibilities
- Support routine data collection, reporting and preparation of data summaries and visualisations.
- Conduct data quality checks and track project indicators.
- Document learning and provide basic MEL guidance to staff and partners.
- Contribute to MEL sections of project documents and develop/deliver MEL trainings.
- Provide administrative and logistical support to the MEL team and core project operations.
- Assist in the development and dissemination of tools, materials, reports and papers.
- Perform quality control and assurance activities, including literature and online searches.
- Support work‑plan preparation, ensure activities follow standard operating procedures, and maintain protocols, instruments, data sets, manuals and training materials.
- Participate in client/funder meetings and prepare requests for proposals.
- Support preparation of quarterly and annual reports, write and edit technical documents, and gather data for evidence‑based reporting.
- Assist with technical troubleshooting, data analysis guidance and data‑review processes for decision‑making.
Required profile
- Proficiency with database management software and online search tools.
- Ability to develop scopes of work and deliverables for partners and consultants.
- Sensitivity to cultural diversity and understanding of political, contextual and ethical issues in the assigned area.
- Articulate, professional communication skills.
