Portfolio Director of Human Resources

About the role

The Portfolio Director of Human Resources will lead HR strategy and operations for IHG’s portfolio of hotels in Papua New Guinea, based at the Holiday Inn & Suites Port Moresby. Reporting to the Portfolio General Manager, you will partner with hotel leaders to drive performance, nurture talent, and uphold a people‑first culture across Holiday Inn & Suites, Holiday Inn Express and Crowne Plaza Residences.

Key responsibilities

• Provide strategic HR leadership and counsel to General Managers and senior teams across multiple properties.
• Design and implement people strategies that support business objectives and enhance guest experiences.
• Manage the full employee lifecycle: attraction, onboarding, development, succession planning, engagement and off‑boarding.
• Coach leaders on employment relations, performance management and organisational capability.
• Drive colleague engagement initiatives such as the HeartBeat Survey and develop actionable improvement plans.
• Champion wellbeing programmes covering physical, mental, financial and workplace health.
• Ensure compliance with Papua New Guinea employment legislation, IHG policies and HR governance standards.
• Oversee HR reporting, systems, process improvements and monitor labour market trends to maintain competitiveness.
• Strengthen IHG’s employer brand through community partnerships and external stakeholder engagement.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources Management, Employment Relations, Industrial Relations or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a senior HR leadership role, preferably within the hospitality sector.
• Proven ability to influence senior leaders and drive organisational change.
• Strong knowledge of PNG employment legislation and HR best practices.
• Excellent communication, coaching and stakeholder management skills.
