Bakery & Pastry Chef – Lead Production Team

About the role

Our client, a leading high‑volume commercial bakery in Port Moresby, is looking for a Bakery and Pastry Chef to lead day‑to‑day production, ensure product quality and drive innovation in a fast‑paced retail environment.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise daily shift operations, manage staff schedules and step in to perform duties when needed.
• Design, develop and execute new pastry and bakery items, decorative displays and menu concepts.
• Maintain strict food safety, hygiene, temperature control, purchasing, inventory and waste‑management standards.
• Control departmental expenses, monitor cost targets and support HR‑related training and onboarding.
• Deliver exceptional customer service, handle VIP orders and ensure guest satisfaction.

Required profile

• High school diploma/GED with 4 years culinary experience, or an Associate Degree in Culinary Arts/Hotel Management with 2 years experience.
• Proven ability to create artistic pastry products with high quality, flavor and presentation.
• Strong interpersonal skills to lead, mentor and build trust within a multicultural team.
• Thorough understanding of food safety regulations, inventory control and waste reduction.
