Driver & Protocol Clerk for UN Women Head of Office

About the role

Under the supervision of the Operations Manager, the Driver & Protocol Clerk provides safe, reliable transportation for the UN Women Country Representative, senior officials and visitors, while also delivering protocol and administrative support.

Key responsibilities

• Drive official vehicles for VIP missions, official functions and airport pickups, ensuring compliance with security and safety standards.
• Maintain accurate vehicle logs, fuel records, odometer readings and monthly utilization reports.
• Perform routine vehicle inspections, minor repairs and arrange major maintenance with proper approvals.
• Handle mail and document delivery to government offices, embassies and UN entities.
• Provide logistical and protocol support for official visits, including visa and customs arrangements.

Required profile

• Minimum secondary education and a valid driver’s licence; defensive‑driving certification is an asset.
• At least 3 years of driver experience in an international organization, embassy or UN system with a clean driving record.
• Fluency in English and Tok Pisin; knowledge of another UN language is desirable.
• Demonstrated ability to keep precise vehicle and fuel logs and work with government partners.

Required skills

• Excellent driving skills, defensive driving and knowledge of local road conditions.
• Basic vehicle maintenance and minor repair abilities.
• Accurate record‑keeping and documentation skills.
• Computer literacy – MS Word, Excel and email.
