GEDSI Lead

About the role

The GEDSI Lead will drive gender equality, disability equity and social inclusion (GEDSI) within the Australia‑Papua New Guinea Law and Justice Partnership (APLJ). Reporting to the programme management team, the Lead will work across PNG to ensure that law and justice services are inclusive, safe and accountable for all community members.

Key responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership on GEDSI issues, including gender‑based violence prevention and women’s leadership opportunities.
• Coordinate with law and justice agencies to improve community access to justice, especially for women, children, persons with disabilities and other vulnerable groups.
• Support the delivery of the three End‑of‑Program Outcomes: community safety and access to justice, service supply, and sectoral leadership and accountability.
• Facilitate engagement with marginalized populations and ensure their perspectives are integrated into programme design and implementation.
• Monitor and report on GEDSI performance indicators and contribute to sector integrity systems.

Required profile

• Open to suitably qualified PNG nationals and international candidates.
• Demonstrated experience in law and justice sector programmes, gender equality, disability inclusion or related development work.
• Strong understanding of PNG’s legal and social context and ability to work in multicultural environments.
