GEDSI Specialist – Strategic Health Infrastructure Program

About the role

The Strategic Health Infrastructure (SHI) Program, funded by the Australian Government, is seeking a GEDSI Specialist to embed gender equality, disability inclusion, and social inclusion principles across all project activities in Papua New Guinea.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the implementation and continuous improvement of the SHI GEDSI Strategy.
• Build and maintain relationships with government, community, and sector stakeholders to ensure inclusive outcomes.
• Conduct assessments and advise on barriers affecting women, people with disabilities, and other marginalised groups.
• Design and deliver GEDSI, safeguarding, and child‑protection training for staff, partners, and stakeholders.
• Monitor, report and communicate GEDSI outcomes, risks and performance to support decision‑making and compliance.
• Ensure safeguarding, child protection and social inclusion principles are embedded throughout project delivery.

Required profile

• Proven experience leading Gender Equality, Disability and Social Inclusion (GEDSI) initiatives.
• Background working with government, donor‑funded, international development or community infrastructure programmes.
• Strong stakeholder engagement skills across diverse cultural and community settings.
• Experience developing and delivering training, workshops, or capacity‑building programmes.
• Knowledge of safeguarding, child protection, disability inclusion and gender equality frameworks.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including reporting and stakeholder liaison.
