Gender, Human Rights & Civil Society Expert (Non-Key)

About the role

NTU International is seeking a Non-Key Expert to provide technical assistance for EU‑funded programmes in Papua New Guinea and the Pacific region. The role focuses on gender equality, human rights, social inclusion and civil‑society participation, supporting the EU Delegation in programme design, implementation and evaluation.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver technical assistance and support for EU development cooperation operations.
• Draft high‑quality reports, policy briefs and gender‑rights assessments.
• Facilitate coordination and dialogue with partner‑country institutions, civil‑society organisations and other stakeholders.
• Lead capacity‑building activities, including training and institutional strengthening.
• Monitor, review and evaluate gender, human‑rights and civil‑society components of programmes.
• Promote gender mainstreaming and inclusion across development initiatives.

Required profile

• University degree (preferably postgraduate) in gender studies, human rights, social sciences, development studies, law or related fields.
• Minimum six years of professional experience in developing countries, focusing on gender equality, human rights, civil‑society strengthening or social inclusion.
• Strong knowledge of gender and human‑rights issues, preferably contextualised to Papua New Guinea and the Pacific.
• Proven ability to work independently within multidisciplinary, multicultural teams.
• Willingness and ability to travel internationally and to remote areas as required.
