General Manager

About the role

The General Manager will be the second‑in‑command to the CEO, responsible for the day‑to‑day running of Laba Holdings’ diverse portfolio of services supporting PNG LNG and Papua LNG projects. This role ensures operational excellence, cost control and local community engagement while the CEO focuses on strategic client, partner, government and board relationships.

Key responsibilities

• Run the day‑to‑day operation of the group and line‑manage direct reports, setting objectives and holding weekly and monthly performance reviews.
• Mobilise the Laba Training Academy and Laba Logistics bus service on schedule and within approved budgets, and stand up the camp construction package with the Project Director.
• Maintain the base services contract for ExxonMobil PNG, meeting KPIs, safety standards and monthly client reporting while managing the interface with site leadership.
• Protect cash flow together with the Financial Controller, ensuring cost centres stay on budget, invoicing and collections are timely.
• Own workforce planning and recruitment, giving priority to local communities as required by the Project Labour Agreement.

Required profile

• 15+ years in operations management, including at least five years as a General Manager or COO in a multi‑business services environment within resources, LNG or construction.
• Proven experience delivering contracts for Tier 1 international operators to required safety, compliance and performance standards.
• Demonstrated ability to launch new business units, manage budgets, profit & loss and cash, and achieve contract KPIs.
• Tertiary qualification in business, engineering or a related discipline; eligibility to work in Papua New Guinea.
• Desirable: residential experience in PNG or Melanesia, familiarity with PNG LNG or Papua LNG, MBA or equivalent.
