Heavy Equipment Technician / Fitter

About the role

We are looking for a Technician – Fitter to service and maintain heavy surface equipment at our Kainantu Gold Mine. The role covers trucks, drills, front‑end loaders, dozers, mobile cranes and other plant, ensuring safe and reliable operation.

Key responsibilities

• Perform scheduled servicing and preventative maintenance on the heavy vehicle fleet (Sandvik, CAT, Normet).
• Respond promptly to breakdowns, diagnose faults and carry out quality repairs.
• Maintain Jumbos, loaders and trucks, both on surface and underground.
• Complete shift paperwork, service sheets, work orders and daily reports.
• Prepare and follow JSA’s, risk assessments and safety documentation.
• Provide direction, coaching and technical assistance to trade assistants and apprentices.

Required profile

• NATTB‑certified Trade Certificate in Heavy Equipment Fitting.
• Minimum 3 years experience in a mining or heavy‑construction environment.
• Hands‑on experience with mining equipment such as drills, LHD loaders, Caterpillar and Sandvik machines.
• Training in hydraulics systems and familiarity with Pronto maintenance software (advantageous).
