HR & Compliance Manager

About the role

PanAust Limited is seeking an experienced HR & Compliance Manager to lead human resources, workforce compliance and employee relations for the Frieda River project in Port Moresby. Reporting to the Project Director, you will align HR practices with project objectives, PNG legislation and company governance while supporting rapid workforce growth.

Key responsibilities

• Support workforce and people strategies with a focus on scaling the project.
• Provide strategic HR, governance and compliance advice to senior leadership.
• Act as the first point of contact for HR concerns and lead the growing HR team.
• Promote a culture of compliance, safety, accountability and continuous improvement.
• Ensure compliance with PNG employment laws, visas, work permits and company policies.
• Develop and maintain HR policies, procedures and governance frameworks, monitoring legislative changes.
• Identify and manage workforce‑related risks.
• Oversee end‑to‑end employee relations matters, including investigations, grievances and disciplinary actions.
• Manage internal controls, audits and reporting for HR.
• Develop succession planning, talent management and workforce planning to meet project and operational needs.

Required profile

• Proven experience as a Human Resources and Compliance Manager, preferably in large‑scale or mining projects.
• Strong knowledge of Papua New Guinea employment legislation, visas and work permits.
• Demonstrated ability to lead and develop an HR team.
• Experience providing strategic HR advice to senior executives.
• Track record of managing employee relations, investigations and disciplinary processes.
