About the role
The Livelihood & Training Expert will design, deliver and monitor agricultural, business and vocational training programmes that strengthen climate‑resilient livelihoods for households in the Mt Hagen area. The role focuses on improving income, food security and market access for women beneficiaries and community groups.
Key responsibilities
- Develop and adapt curricula on climate‑resilient agriculture, financial literacy, enterprise development and market‑oriented practices based on needs assessments.
- Facilitate participatory training sessions for women, community groups, local trainers and staff, ensuring practical, market‑relevant skill acquisition.
- Provide ongoing coaching and technical back‑stopping to reinforce adoption of improved agricultural and business practices.
- Support the formation and capacity‑building of savings groups, cooperatives and small agribusiness ventures.
- Coordinate with government agencies, NGOs, private‑sector partners and market intermediaries to create value‑chain linkages and access to financial services.
- Prepare high‑quality technical and financial reports for donors and internal management, documenting lessons learned and success stories.
Required profile
- Relevant experience in livelihood programming, agricultural extension, business development or vocational training.
- Proven ability to work with diverse stakeholders, including NGOs, government bodies and private‑sector actors.
- Strong analytical skills to conduct needs assessments and tailor training modules.
- Excellent communication skills in English; experience in Papua New Guinea is an advantage.

- Knowledge of savings group formation, cooperative development and small‑scale agribusiness.
