Maintenance Manager – Lae, Papua New Guinea

About the role

We are recruiting an experienced Maintenance Manager to join a major operation in Lae, Papua New Guinea. This senior site‑based leadership role is responsible for the reliability, safety and performance of production assets, utilities and engineering systems while leading the maintenance team and supporting continuous production.

Key responsibilities

• Lead preventive and predictive maintenance programs.
• Manage breakdowns, fault finding and root‑cause investigations.
• Plan shutdowns, servicing and major equipment overhauls.
• Manage PPM systems, maintenance schedules and KPIs.
• Lead trades, technicians, supervisors and contractors.
• Manage maintenance budgets, spare parts and operational costs.
• Support capital projects, installations and commissioning.
• Ensure compliance with GMP, HACCP and site safety requirements.

Required profile

• Trade qualification, diploma or degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Manufacturing Engineering or similar.
• Approximately 10+ years of maintenance and engineering experience.
• Proven maintenance leadership experience.
• Strong PPM, shutdown planning and corrective maintenance experience.
• Experience within food manufacturing or a comparable high‑volume environment.
• Strong fault‑finding and problem‑solving capability.
• Experience with PLCs, SCADA, industrial refrigeration, ammonia, boilers, hydraulics, pneumatics and CMMS systems is highly regarded.
