Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (MEL) Officer

About the role

The Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (MEL) Officer will support the STRIDES activity in Papua New Guinea by overseeing the project’s monitoring and evaluation processes. This role ensures data quality, tracks performance indicators, and documents learning to inform adaptive management.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain and implement MEL procedures, including routine data collection and reporting.
• Conduct data quality checks, track indicators, and prepare data summaries and visualizations.
• Provide basic MEL guidance to staff and partners and contribute to MEL sections of project documents.
• Develop and deliver MEL trainings and support technical troubleshooting.
• Assist in preparing quarterly and annual reports, technical papers, and presentations.
• Participate in client/funder meetings and support proposal preparation.
• Manage administrative and logistical support for the MEL team and project activities.

Required profile

• Experience in monitoring, evaluation, and learning within health or development projects.
• Ability to work closely with multidisciplinary teams and follow standard operating procedures.
• Strong analytical mindset with attention to data quality and documentation.
• Sensitivity to cultural diversity and understanding of ethical considerations in the field.

Required skills

• Proficiency with database management software.
• Proficiency with online search tools.
