About the role
The Monitoring & Evaluation Officer will support the MEAL Coordinator in delivering the Sustainable Highlands Region Core Road Network Project. Based in the Western Highlands Province, the role involves collecting, verifying and analysing project data, supporting assessments and ensuring timely reporting to improve project outcomes.
Key responsibilities
- Assist in conducting needs assessments, including gender equality, disability and social inclusion, climate, livelihoods and market analyses.
- Implement the project MEAL framework, maintain the indicator tracking table and update activity schedules.
- Prepare, translate and test data collection tools for surveys, focus groups and key informant interviews.
- Support baseline, midline and end‑line monitoring studies by arranging logistics, mobilising participants and collecting data.
- Provide day‑to‑day guidance to enumerators, check completed forms and raise field challenges.
- Update the indicator tracking table monthly, verify achievements against source documents and prepare monitoring summaries for donor reports.
- Collect community feedback, manage complaints and ensure safeguarding protocols are followed.
Required profile
- Degree in Mathematics, Statistics, International or Community Development or a related field (preferred).
- Minimum two years of monitoring and evaluation or data collection experience in a relief or development organisation.
- Experience with international NGOs is an advantage.
- Fluency in English and Tok Pisin.
- Willingness to travel to remote communities and work occasional overtime.
Required skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel for data entry, cleaning, analysis and chart creation.
