Non-Key Expert – Forestry, Climate Change & Biodiversity

About the role

NTU International is seeking a qualified Non-Key Expert to provide technical assistance for EU‑funded programmes in Papua New Guinea and the wider Pacific region. The expert will support sustainable forest and natural resources management, biodiversity conservation, and climate change mitigation and adaptation initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver technical assistance on sustainable forest management, forest conservation, restoration and biodiversity conservation.
• Support climate‑change adaptation and mitigation actions, including nature‑based solutions and ecosystem‑based approaches.
• Draft high‑quality reports, policy documents and programme evaluations for the EU Delegation.
• Coordinate with partner‑country institutions, stakeholders and multidisciplinary teams.
• Travel internationally and locally, including to remote areas, as required by the assignment.

Required profile

• University degree (preferably postgraduate) in forestry, environmental sciences, natural resources management, biodiversity conservation, ecology, climate change or a related discipline.
• Minimum 6 years of professional experience in developing‑country contexts, preferably in the Pacific region.
• Strong knowledge of forestry, climate change, biodiversity and natural resources management.
• Ability to work independently and within multicultural, multidisciplinary teams.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills, with proven ability to produce high‑quality documents.
