About the role
NTU International is seeking a Non‑Key Renewable Energy Expert to provide technical assistance for EU‑funded programmes in Papua New Guinea and the wider Pacific region. The consultant will support the EU Delegation in programming, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of renewable‑energy projects, fostering sustainable energy access and climate‑resilient systems.
Key responsibilities
- Deliver technical assistance on renewable‑energy development, energy transition and climate‑resilient infrastructure.
- Conduct feasibility studies, investment planning and integration analyses for solar, wind, hydropower, biomass and other technologies.
- Support rural electrification, off‑grid and mini‑grid solutions, and energy storage projects.
- Provide policy advice, regulatory analysis and institutional strengthening for energy authorities.
- Monitor and evaluate energy‑sector programmes, ensuring alignment with EU objectives.
- Coordinate with government agencies, utilities, private sector partners and other stakeholders across the Pacific.
- Travel internationally and to remote locations as required.
Required profile
- University degree (post‑graduate preferred) in renewable energy, electrical engineering, energy economics or a related discipline.
- Minimum six years of professional experience in renewable‑energy projects within developing‑country contexts.
- Demonstrated experience in Papua New Guinea or the Pacific region is highly valued.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to produce high‑quality reports.
- Proven ability to work independently and within multidisciplinary, multicultural teams.
