Nursing Officer – Medical & Health

About the role

The Nursing Officer will join the Mine Medical Centre (MMC) as part of New Porgera Limited’s multidisciplinary occupational health team. Working on‑site at the Porgera Gold Mine, you will provide primary and emergency medical care to workers and, when possible, support local community health providers.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the nursing, medical and allied health team in the daily operation of the MMC.
• Perform triage, treatment and referral of patients, and track follow‑up for external specialist services.
• Provide first‑response care for illnesses, injuries and emergencies across the site, including coordination of road and aeromedical transfers.
• Deliver contemporary wound and trauma care, and manage ongoing injury‑management and return‑to‑work plans.
• Coordinate inpatient and outpatient services, ensuring accurate reporting and follow‑up.
• Manage medical and emergency equipment, consumables and pharmaceuticals in line with compliance standards.
• Oversee infection‑control procedures and cleaning of the centre and ambulance fleet.
• Support occupational health surveillance, vaccination programmes and the development of medical systems and operating standards.

Required profile

• Registered nursing qualification.
• Experience in primary, emergency or occupational health nursing.
• Ability to work within a multidisciplinary team in a remote mining environment.
