Project Coordinator - REDD+

About the role

The Project Coordinator will lead the implementation of the PNG REDD+ results‑based payment project, ensuring compliance with FAO, GCF and PNG government requirements. The role provides senior technical and operational guidance to provincial governments, the Project Board and other stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

• Manage daily project activities, set priorities, allocate work and ensure timely delivery of outputs.
• Develop and update the Project Document, Results Framework, Annual Work Plans, budgets, procurement and M&E plans.
• Oversee the project budget within delegated authority, monitor expenditures and propose revisions.
• Coordinate inter‑agency and inter‑ministerial activities, negotiate working arrangements with CCDA, line ministries and implementing partners.
• Organise Project Board meetings, prepare analyses, recommendations and risk mitigation measures.
• Provide technical and strategic advice on REDD+ implementation, results‑based payment use and related policy matters.
• Lead technical reporting to FAO, CCDA and GCF, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
• Supervise technical staff, consultants and partners, reviewing deliverables and evaluating performance.

Required profile

• Advanced university degree in forestry, natural resource management, environmental management, climate change, sustainable development or a related field.
• Minimum five years of experience in forest or land management, REDD+ implementation, MRV, or emission‑reduction actions.
• Proven experience in coordinating or managing complex, multi‑stakeholder projects.
