Renewable Energy Expert – Non‑Key Consultant

About the role

NTU International is seeking a Renewable Energy Expert to provide technical assistance for EU‑funded programmes in Papua New Guinea and the Pacific region. The assignment runs for 36 months starting 1 February 2027 and supports the EU Delegation in programming, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of development cooperation operations.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver technical assistance on renewable energy development, sustainable energy access, energy transition and climate‑resilient energy systems.
• Support the EU Delegation with programme design, implementation, monitoring, review and evaluation.
• Facilitate coordination and dialogue with government agencies, utilities, private sector and other stakeholders.
• Conduct feasibility studies, investment planning and policy analysis.
• Travel internationally and locally, including to remote areas, as required.

Required profile

• Post‑graduate degree in renewable energy, electrical engineering, energy engineering, power systems, environmental engineering, energy economics or a related field.
• Minimum 6 years of professional experience in renewable energy or related sectors in developing countries.
• Strong knowledge of the renewable energy sector in Papua New Guinea and the Pacific.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills, with ability to produce high‑quality reports.
• Proven ability to work independently and within multidisciplinary, multicultural teams.
