Senior Global Health Security Advisor for PNG

About the role

The Senior Global Health Security (GHS) Advisor will work with Papua New Guinea’s National Department of Health to implement a five‑year U.S.‑PNG Memorandum of Understanding aimed at strengthening the health system, improving HIV outcomes, reducing maternal and child mortality, and enhancing disease surveillance and outbreak response.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate and track the implementation of the MOU across four focus areas: surveillance & outbreak response, laboratory systems, data systems, and strategic investment.
• Lead the GHS Multisectoral Steering Committee and technical working groups to ensure alignment with PNG’s National Digital Health Strategy 2025‑2030.
• Oversee the rollout of integrated digital health platforms and manage the transition of U.S.‑funded frontline health workers to PNG government management.
• Facilitate collaboration among U.S. Government implementing partners, provincial health authorities, and civil‑society organizations.
• Prepare comprehensive reports on outcome and process metrics for both PNG and U.S. stakeholders.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in global health security, infectious disease programs, and public‑health system strengthening.
• Proven ability to work within government structures and lead multi‑agency steering committees.
• Strong understanding of digital health strategies, surveillance systems, and laboratory information management.
• Experience managing large‑scale, multi‑year health initiatives and MOU implementation.
