About the role
The Senior Industry Liaison Coordinator will act as the focal point for the National Polytechnic Institute of PNG (NPI PNG) in delivering the Higher Education Institute‑Industry Partnerships Strategy (HIPS) under the Strongim Wok Long TVET programme. Based in Lae, the role strengthens connections between higher education, industry, government and development partners to improve workforce development and graduate employability.
Key responsibilities
- Build and maintain productive relationships with employers, industry bodies, government agencies, development partners and other stakeholders.
- Identify and facilitate collaboration opportunities that enhance training quality, workforce development and graduate employment outcomes.
- Support the design, negotiation and implementation of industry partnership agreements, including resource‑sharing and joint initiatives.
- Coordinate industry‑based workplace learning opportunities such as apprenticeships, traineeships, internships and student attachments.
- Facilitate industry input into curriculum design, assessment practices and continuous improvement processes.
Required profile
- PNG national with proven experience in partnership development, stakeholder engagement or industry liaison within the TVET or higher education sector.
- Strong understanding of Papua New Guinea’s education and skills development landscape.
- Excellent communication, networking and negotiation abilities.
- Ability to work collaboratively with government, private sector and development partners.
