Senior Writer

About the role

The Senior Writer will provide specialist writing and broader communications support to the PNG–Australia Transport Sector Support Program Phase 3. The role involves drafting, editing and producing high‑quality content across formats such as media releases, digital media, feature articles, fact sheets, speeches and insight products.

Key responsibilities

• Draft, edit and publish a range of communication materials, ensuring clarity, accuracy and relevance for target audiences.
• Support the implementation of program communications strategies and contribute to public diplomacy and outreach activities.
• Report on stakeholder engagement events and produce insight products that inform programme decision‑making.
• Maintain relationships with PNG media outlets, journalists and other communications partners.

Required profile

• Tertiary qualification in English, journalism, communications, marketing or a related field.
• Minimum five years of professional writing experience with a demonstrable portfolio of published work.
• Strong understanding of Papua New Guinea’s media environment and key communications stakeholders.
• Familiarity with government and development communications, including the need for factual, balanced and non‑promotional content.
