Audit & Risk Manager

About the role

The Audit & Risk Manager will join the executive leadership team at the Head Office in Port Moresby, overseeing internal audit and enterprise risk management functions. This senior position is responsible for protecting assets, ensuring regulatory compliance, and strengthening governance across the organisation.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the Audit & Risk Department and develop a risk‑based internal audit plan aligned with corporate strategy and regulatory requirements.
• Review and update audit policies, frameworks, and procedures to reflect best practices.
• Provide independent assurance to the Board Audit Committee and senior management on internal controls and business processes.
• Mentor and build capability within the internal audit team to deliver high‑quality engagements.
• Assess financial, operational, compliance, and IT processes to identify risk exposures and improvement opportunities.
• Coordinate with external auditors, regulators, and other assurance providers to ensure audit efficiency and compliance.
• Report findings and recommendations directly to executive management and the Audit Committee, driving timely corrective actions.
• Promote a culture of integrity, transparency, and proactive risk awareness.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related discipline; CPA certification highly advantageous.
• 10–15 years of audit experience, including at least 5 years in a senior leadership role.
• Proven experience engaging with Board Audit Committees and leading cross‑functional audit teams.
• Strong organizational, management and interpersonal skills with a track record of influencing senior stakeholders.
• Uncompromising integrity, high ethical standards and the ability to prioritize under pressure.
