Construction Engineer – Papua LNG Project

About the role
The Construction Engineer will act as the interface between the project site and head office for the Papua LNG development. Reporting to the Construction Superintendent, the role ensures that engineering deliverables, work plans and construction packages are coordinated and executed efficiently.
Key responsibilities
- Coordinate and organise the site‑based field engineering team.
- Interface with contractors, project and discipline engineers, construction personnel and operations staff to develop construction work plans.
- Document plans in construction work packages and provide construction estimates and CTR approval in collaboration with superintendents.
- Implement the work breakdown structure as defined in the Project Execution Plans.
- Set and maintain the quality, format and content of work packs.
- Integrate materials management, including work‑pack MTOs and AFC source documents.
- Plan and execute work, managing resources and job cards.
- Provide construction input into project and engineering design, leveraging site expertise.
- Promote health and safety excellence by setting clear H&S expectations.
- Provide visible leadership to motivate and coach the field engineering team.
Required profile
- Minimum 8 years experience in the Oil & Gas industry.
- At least 5 years in a construction engineering role.
- Degree in a relevant engineering discipline (B.Sc/M.Sc/B.Eng) and eligibility for membership of an internationally recognised professional institute (e.g., IET, Engineers Australia).
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Familiarity with equipment found in typical oil and gas producing/shipping facilities.
- Proven ability to interface effectively with project, design and construction personnel.
- Ability to specify field requirements to engineering for execution.
- Proactive communication, reporting and performance management.
- Capability to work with multidisciplinary teams and client representatives.
