Data Curation Lead

About the role

The Data Curation Lead will head a team that creates Pacific-language and multimodal datasets used to train and evaluate AI systems. This operational leadership role focuses on setting standards, managing output, and ensuring the integrity of delivered data.

Key responsibilities

• Lead a team of data specialists and define quality standards for translation, speech, and imagery collection programmes.
• Oversee a network of contributors, ensuring every dataset is fully documented, consent‑compliant, and ready for delivery.
• Set output targets and develop the quality framework that supports them.
• Run structured progression and calibration processes for the team.
• Collaborate closely with the engineering team building the data platform.
• Manage the operational budget for data curation activities.

Required profile

• Proven record of leading high‑volume, quality‑controlled work in data services, translation, publishing, research or programme delivery.
• Experience with data pipelines or systems that move data through stages of quality control.
• Demonstrated ability to develop people while maintaining rigorous standards.
• Fluent written English; knowledge of Tok Pisin is highly regarded.
• Strong discretion handling consented personal material and client data.
