Field Security Officer – Buka & Wewak

About the role

The Field Security Officer will support the implementation of security plans and manage safety operations for the Buka and Wewak duty stations. Working under the UNDSS Security Advisor, the officer will ensure UN personnel are protected and emergency procedures are effective.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in the implementation of the Country Office Security Plan, Contingency Plans and the UN Security Framework.
• Maintain and regularly update staff lists, entrance/exit checklists and the UN Emergency Communications Plan.
• Administer and test the Buka-AROB Warden Plan and facilitate security clearances for all UN staff in the duty stations.
• Coordinate with UNDSS to ensure updated emergency procedures are in place for all project locations.
• Provide 24‑hour response support for security incidents and emergencies.

Required profile

• Local national with vocational experience in security operations.
• Ability to work closely with UNDSS and be accountable to the ASC Buka‑AROB.
• Strong understanding of UN security protocols and emergency management.
