Finance Associate (Re‑advertisement)

About the role

The Finance Associate supports the Country Representative and Operations Manager in delivering financial services and administrative processes for UN Women’s Country Office in Port Moresby. The role ensures compliance with UN Women’s financial rules, regulations and IPSAS standards while providing client‑oriented finance support.

Key responsibilities

• Review, verify and process financial transactions, vouchers and journal entries in Quantum, ensuring compliance with internal controls and IPSAS.
• Prepare, monitor and revise the Country Office budget, track expenditures, and manage cost‑saving strategies.
• Support month‑end and year‑end closures, audit processes and implementation of corrective actions.
• Provide financial reporting to donors, HQ, and regional offices, including VAT reimbursements and revenue/expenditure commitments.
• Assist programme and operations teams with budget preparation, financial analysis, and donor reporting.

Required profile

• Undergraduate degree in Finance, Accounting or related field.
• Experience in public‑sector or UN financial management, preferably with knowledge of IPSAS.
• Ability to work collaboratively with operations, programme and regional finance teams.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Quantum financial system.
• Strong knowledge of International Public Sector Accounting Standards (IPSAS).
• Ability to prepare and analyse budgets, financial statements and audit reports.
