Health, Safety and Security Advisor – PNG Focused Role

About the role

Tetra Tech Coffey is seeking an experienced Health, Safety and Security Advisor to support engineering and environmental teams across diverse projects in Papua New Guinea. The role is a 12‑month contract and can be based in PNG, New Zealand or Australia, with occasional travel to project sites.

Key responsibilities

• Review and improve project Health, Safety and Security plans, risk assessments and safe‑work documentation.
• Strengthen PNG‑specific procedures, systems and templates for HSEQ.
• Enhance risk assessments and emergency response arrangements for remote, high‑risk locations.
• Provide practical advice in response to safety observations, incidents and emerging risks.
• Facilitate pre‑mobilisation meetings and support safe field mobilisation, including PPE and logistics.
• Support incident investigations, continuous improvement initiatives and conduct site/office inspections across PNG.

Required profile

• Demonstrated HSEQ experience in engineering, environmental, construction or resources fields.
• Strong background in risk assessment, emergency response planning and incident management.
• Experience working in PNG, the Pacific or other remote/developing‑country environments.
• Relevant WHS/HSEQ qualifications and ability to work independently with dispersed teams.
• Willingness to travel within PNG up to once per quarter.
