Heavy Equipment Operator – Mining

About the role

The Heavy Equipment Operator will safely operate a range of mobile mining equipment to meet production targets at K92’s Kainantu Gold Mine. You will be responsible for daily equipment checks, safe operation, and reporting any irregularities while adhering to strict health and safety standards.

Key responsibilities

• Perform full pre‑start equipment checks and complete the checklist before each use.
• Operate backhoes, Bobcats, excavators, forklifts/telehandlers, and light trucks safely and efficiently.
• Follow instructions from senior staff and spotters.
• Clean equipment at the end of each shift and conduct basic preventive maintenance.
• Schedule and deliver equipment for servicing as required.
• Maintain housekeeping in the work area and report safety hazards.

Required profile

• Minimum Grade 8 education.
• Valid Class 7 licence permitting operation of the listed equipment.
• Experience operating backhoes, Bobcats, excavators, forklifts/telehandlers and light trucks.
