IT Superintendent

About the role

The IT Superintendent will provide hands‑on technical leadership for the organisation’s PNG operations, overseeing IT infrastructure, cybersecurity, business systems and vendor management across greenfield construction, commissioning and 24/7 operations. Reporting to the CEO and corporate IT teams, the role combines strategic planning with day‑to‑day delivery in a remote industrial environment.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain the PNG IT roadmap, technology standards, change controls and annual operating/capital budgets.
• Oversee installation and commissioning of site connectivity (Starlink, telecom redundancy), LAN/WAN/Wi‑Fi networks, firewalls, VLANs and communications rooms.
• Administer Microsoft 365 services (Entra ID, Exchange, Teams, SharePoint), implement endpoint protection, MFA and manage access governance.
• Coordinate secure network interfaces between corporate IT and operational technology systems, ensuring strict firewall segregation.
• Evaluate technical proposals, manage local and overseas vendors, oversee hardware asset lifecycles and drive local capability building.

Required profile

• Degree or Diploma in Information Technology, Computer Science, Telecommunications or equivalent experience.
• Minimum 7 years of broad IT experience, including leadership of service delivery, infrastructure projects or small technical teams, preferably in remote mining or industrial settings.

Required skills

• Microsoft 365 administration (Entra ID, Exchange, Teams, SharePoint).
• Networking expertise: TCP/IP, VLANs, routing, firewalls, Wi‑Fi.
• Cybersecurity controls, endpoint protection and MFA implementation.
• Experience with Starlink Business and managed networking platforms such as Ubiquiti UniFi.
• Relevant certifications (Cisco, Fortinet, Microsoft, CompTIA, ITIL) are desirable.
