Manager, Financial Accountant

About the role

We are a long‑standing bank seeking a Manager, Financial Accountant to join our Finance team in Port Moresby. Reporting to the Financial Controller, you will support month‑end, quarterly and annual accounting returns and produce internal management reports.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare monthly, quarterly and semi‑annual financial accounting returns for Westpac Bank.
• Provide financial accounting data for regulatory reporting to the central bank.
• Develop business cases and analyse accounting treatment for new investments and transactions.
• Perform expense and revenue analysis and support cost‑reduction initiatives.
• Lead month‑end accounting duties and manage the general ledger reconciliation process.
• Assist in training Accounting Officers and contribute to Risk Committee and Board papers.

Required profile

• Degree in accounting from a recognised tertiary institution.
• Minimum 3 years accounting experience, preferably in banking or financial services.
• CA/CPA qualification preferred; candidates studying towards CA/CPA are also considered.
• Experience with computerized financial accounting systems and regulatory reporting.
