Mechanical Technician – Planned Maintenance Team

About the role

We are seeking a Mechanical Technician to join our Planned Maintenance Team in Port Moresby. Reporting to the Team Leader, you will ensure the reliability of high‑speed production equipment in a food‑and‑beverage environment.

Key responsibilities

• Perform routine preventive and corrective maintenance on conveyors, fillers, cappers, labelers, pumps, motors and gearboxes.
• Diagnose mechanical, pneumatic and hydraulic breakdowns quickly to minimise downtime.
• Conduct root‑cause analysis of recurring failures and support line changeovers, settings and equipment commissioning.
• Enforce safety and hygiene protocols, including LOTO and GMP/HACCP compliance.
• Maintain equipment histories, service schedules, work logs and spare‑parts inventory in a CMMS.

Required profile

• Recognised mechanical trade qualification or related technical education.
• 2‑5 years hands‑on maintenance experience with automated or high‑speed manufacturing equipment, preferably in the food and beverage sector.
• Ability to read blueprints and schematics and work effectively with engineers and production staff.
• Physical stamina for manual labour, prolonged standing and lifting heavy items.
