Mixologist Trainer – 3‑Month Project

About the role

Our client, a leading independent hotel group in Port Moresby, seeks an experienced Mixologist Trainer for a three‑month project. You will work with the F&B leadership team to design signature cocktail programs, introduce modern mixology techniques, and upskill the bar team to deliver world‑class service to corporate, diplomatic and leisure guests.

Key responsibilities

• Design and deliver structured training modules covering classic cocktails, craft mixology, garnishing, ice programs and precision pour controls.
• Develop seasonal high‑end cocktail menus using local South Pacific botanicals and premium spirits to boost revenue and guest satisfaction.
• Standardise recipes, create detailed visual guides and audit daily bar setups for consistency and speed.
• Train bar staff and floor servers on spirits knowledge, flavour pairings, upselling techniques and guest engagement.
• Collaborate with F&B leadership on beverage cost‑of‑sales, yield analysis, waste minimisation and inventory controls.
• Ensure compliance with food safety, HACCP, and local liquor licensing regulations.

Required profile

• Diploma or certification in Hospitality Management, Beverage Studies or recognised mixology accreditation (WSET Spirits preferred).
• Minimum 3 years experience as a Mixologist, Bar Manager or Beverage Trainer in a high‑volume upscale lounge or luxury resort.
• Proven ability to mentor local staff in multicultural settings and deliver international service standards.
