Security Coordinator

About the role

The Security Coordinator is responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing all security and safety programs for the project in Papua New Guinea. This role ensures that detailed security procedures, emergency response drills, and communication protocols comply with organizational policies and local regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Support the Security Team in creating and managing organization‑wide security programs.
• Coordinate with security professionals and vendors to protect personnel, assets, and intellectual property.
• Prepare risk and threat assessment reports and provide mitigation recommendations.
• Participate in field assessments of new project areas and document results using standard templates.
• Develop and maintain the Country Security Plan, security policies, and procedures.
• Conduct security and political risk analyses and deliver risk‑management training to staff.
• Build relationships with authorities and community leaders following humanitarian principles.
• Monitor the threat environment, issue timely warnings, and implement risk‑mitigation measures.
• Oversee movement control, transportation coordination, and staff whereabouts for assigned locations.
• Manage contracted security providers, ensuring compliance and performance.
• Escalate security incidents and recommend corrective actions to senior management.
• Provide security orientations for new employees, contractors, and visitors.
• Conduct routine security surveys and inspections of office and residential premises.

Required profile

• Experience in security coordination, risk assessment, and emergency response.
• Familiarity with humanitarian principles and working in challenging environments.
• Ability to interact with multiple functional areas including Procurement, HR, and Contracts.
• Strong analytical skills to monitor and interpret threat information.
