Structural Mechanical Piping (SMP) Supervisor

About the role

Reporting to the Site Construction Coordinator, the Structural Mechanical Piping (SMP) Supervisor will lead and coordinate all SMP works for surface facilities and on‑site construction. The role ensures work is properly resourced, follows project plans and specifications, and maintains high client satisfaction through proactive communication.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and organise work activities in line with project schedules, ensuring availability of information, materials, tools and equipment.
• Lead daily toolbox talks with site labour and oversee accurate site progress reporting, capturing productive and non‑productive man‑hours.
• Create permits and risk assessments for all work activities and verify that material, tools and equipment are fit for purpose and certified.
• Promote health and safety excellence, communicate site H&S expectations and develop training resources as needed.
• Provide clear expectations, coaching and visible supervision to motivate individuals and teams.
• Liaise with Wood and other projects to share best practices and ensure compliance with organisational procedures.
• Monitor accurate time writing, construction productivity and project budgets for efficient management.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 + years experience in an SMP supervision role.
• Diploma or equivalent local qualification in engineering or a related quality discipline.
• Welding Inspector Certification and familiarity with ASME B31.3, API 570, CSWIP 3.1 and ASNT Level 2 NDE standards.

Required skills

• Ability to read and interpret piping and structural technical drawings.
• Welding inspection expertise (ASME B31.3, AWSD 1.1, API 570, CSWIP 3.1, ASNT Level 2 NDE).
• Strong technical knowledge of the SMP discipline and its interaction with other engineering disciplines.
