About the role
NTU International is seeking a Transport Expert (Non‑Key Expert) to provide technical assistance for EU‑funded programmes in Papua New Guinea and the wider Pacific region. The role supports the implementation, monitoring and evaluation of transport‑related projects, ensuring they are climate‑resilient and aligned with sustainable mobility objectives.
Key responsibilities
- Assist the EU Delegation in programming, implementing and reviewing transport and infrastructure initiatives across PNG and Pacific partner countries.
- Conduct feasibility studies, prepare project documentation and draft high‑quality reports for EU‑funded activities.
- Coordinate with local institutions, stakeholders and multilateral partners to promote effective dialogue and cooperation.
- Provide technical advice on roads, bridges, maritime ports, aviation facilities, rural‑urban mobility, logistics and multimodal connectivity.
- Support climate‑resilient and low‑carbon transport solutions, including disaster risk reduction and asset management.
Required profile
- University degree (post‑graduate preferred) in transport engineering, civil engineering, transport planning or a related discipline.
- Minimum six years of professional experience in transport, infrastructure or mobility projects in developing‑country contexts.
- Strong knowledge of the transport sector in Papua New Guinea or the Pacific region.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to produce culturally sensitive documentation.
- Proven ability to work independently and within multidisciplinary, multicultural teams.
- Willingness to travel internationally and to remote locations as required.
