International Climate Policy Consultant – 6‑month contract (Remote + travel)

About the role
The International Climate Policy Consultant will support UNICEF Papua New Guinea and the Climate Change and Development Authority in strengthening climate‑policy knowledge and implementation. Working remotely with travel to Port Moresby, the consultant will help align national climate strategies with global frameworks and integrate youth perspectives.
Key responsibilities
- Provide technical expertise on the Paris Agreement, Global Goal on Adaptation and related international climate frameworks.
- Support the development and implementation of Papua New Guinea’s Nationally Determined Contributions (NDC) and National Adaptation Plan (NAP).
- Conduct capacity‑building workshops for the Climate Change and Development Authority and relevant government sectors.
- Facilitate the inclusion of youth viewpoints into national climate policy processes.
- Prepare policy briefs, guidance notes and training materials for stakeholders.
Required profile
- Master’s degree in climate change, environmental policy, international development or a related field.
- Minimum ten (10) years of professional experience in climate change adaptation, climate policy or sustainable development.
- Extensive knowledge of international climate policy instruments such as the Paris Agreement, NDCs and NAPs.
- Proven experience working with government agencies and multilateral partners.
