Medical Officer – Mine Medical Clinic

About the role

The Medical Officer will join New Porgera Limited’s multidisciplinary Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) medical team at the Mine Medical Centre. Working as a senior clinician, you will provide primary care, emergency response and occupational health services to the mine workforce and, when possible, support the surrounding community.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver high‑quality clinical care to employees presenting with illness or injury.
• Participate in on‑call and medical retrieval rosters to ensure emergency coverage across the site.
• Support nursing officers and allied health professionals in day‑to‑day operations.
• Maintain clinic facilities, equipment, consumables and ambulances to operational standards.
• Lead health surveillance, workforce health management and injury‑prevention initiatives.
• Monitor infection‑control practices and recommend improvements.
• Facilitate regular clinical meetings to coordinate patient treatment, referrals and rehabilitation.

Required profile

• Medical degree (MBBS, MD or equivalent) with full registration to practice.
• Experience in occupational health or mining‑related medical services is preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to work in remote, multi‑disciplinary environments.
• Strong communication skills for reporting to management and educating staff.
