Water, Sanitation & Hygiene (WASH) Expert

About the role

NTU International is seeking a Water, Sanitation & Hygiene (WASH) Expert to provide technical assistance for EU‑funded programmes in Papua New Guinea and the wider Pacific region. The assignment, starting 1 February 2027 for 36 months, will support the EU Delegation in programming, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of development cooperation operations.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver technical support on water supply, sanitation, hygiene and water resources management.
• Conduct feasibility studies, prepare project documentation and ensure climate‑resilient design of WASH infrastructure.
• Assist in policy and governance planning for the WASH sector, including capacity‑building for utilities and authorities.
• Monitor and evaluate WASH programmes, providing high‑quality reports and recommendations.
• Coordinate with partner‑country institutions, stakeholders and regional bodies, including travel to remote sites as required.

Required profile

• University degree (post‑graduate preferred) in water engineering, civil/environmental engineering, public health, water resources management or related field.
• Minimum 6 years of professional experience in WASH projects within developing countries.
• Proven ability to work independently in multidisciplinary, multicultural teams.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills, with experience drafting technical reports.
