Water, Sanitation & Hygiene (WASH) Expert

About the role

NTU International is seeking a Water, Sanitation & Hygiene (WASH) Expert to provide technical assistance for EU‑funded programmes in Papua New Guinea and the wider Pacific region. The assignment will support the EU Delegation in programming, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of development cooperation operations, with a focus on sustainable, climate‑resilient WASH services.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver technical advice on water supply, sanitation infrastructure and hygiene promotion across rural and urban settings.
• Conduct feasibility studies, project preparation and climate‑resilience assessments for WASH interventions.
• Support institutional strengthening and capacity building of utilities, authorities and service providers.
• Monitor and evaluate WASH programmes, ensuring alignment with EU policies and Pacific‑region priorities.
• Facilitate coordination and dialogue with partner‑country institutions, donors and other stakeholders.

Required profile

• University degree (post‑graduate preferred) in water engineering, civil engineering, environmental engineering, water resources management, public health or related field.
• Minimum 6 years of professional experience in WASH sectors within developing countries.
• Proven ability to produce high‑quality reports and communicate effectively in multicultural contexts.
• Willingness to travel internationally and to remote areas as required.
