Asset Protection Officer – Mining Site

About the role

The Asset Protection Officer will supervise local security staff and provide comprehensive security coverage for the New Porgera mine site and its installations. Reporting to the Chief Duty Officer, the role ensures the safety of personnel, protection of assets, and rapid response to any security incidents in a challenging, 24/7 mining environment.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain security across all mining operations and monitor civil disturbances or policy breaches.
• Execute tasks assigned by the Chief Duty Officer or Superintendent and communicate effectively with Security Control.
• Respond to security threats and incidents to protect production continuity.
• Manage and support measures to minimise internal and external theft, providing detailed reports and recommendations to management or police.
• Uphold high health, safety and environmental standards and comply with all NPL policies.

Required profile

• Minimum Grade 10 certificate or higher.
• At least 6 years of Police or Military experience.
• Physically fit, able to work 12‑hour day/night shifts in all weather conditions.
• Valid PNG driver’s licence and ability to operate a manual vehicle.
• Original, verified discharge order from Police or Military.
• Ability to work unsupervised, shift work, and strong understanding of safe working practices.
