Laboratory Analyst – Quality Control (Port Moresby)

About the role

The Laboratory Analyst will work in the Port Moresby brewery, reporting to the Quality Control Manager. The role ensures that all raw materials, in‑process samples and finished products meet strict quality specifications through systematic testing and analysis.

Key responsibilities

• Perform sampling, preparation and analysis of analytical, microbiological and sensory tests according to validated laboratory methods.
• Record, interpret and communicate results, providing reliable data to production for decision‑making.
• Execute daily validation using first‑line control/reference beer samples, plot Shewhart charts and take corrective actions on deviations.
• Prepare chemical solutions for laboratory and production analyses and conduct non‑routine tests when quality issues arise.
• Maintain, calibrate and verify laboratory equipment, perform simple maintenance and ensure all instruments remain clean and operational.
• Monitor inventory of consumables, chemicals and materials, and manage the Certificate of Analysis/Certificate of Conformance system.
• Document shift activities, downtime, handover notes and archive records in an organized manner.
• Provide technical support and training to laboratory staff and participate in continuous improvement initiatives.

Required profile

• Experience in a brewery or food‑and‑beverage laboratory environment is preferred.
• Ability to work accurately under pressure and follow standard operating procedures.
• Strong attention to detail and good record‑keeping habits.
• Willingness to work on‑site in Port Moresby and collaborate with production teams.
