Maintenance Technician – Lae, Papua New Guinea

About the role

The Maintenance Technician ensures that church facilities in Lae are safe, functional, and welcoming for worship, teaching, and community activities. This full‑time, onsite position handles routine and emergency upkeep of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and sound systems, as well as general building repairs and grounds care.

Key responsibilities

• Perform scheduled and emergency preventative maintenance on HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and sound/electronic systems.
• Repair or replace motors, pumps, small engines, locks, hinges, millwork, sheetrock, tile, and minor paint jobs.
• Carry out custodial duties and maintain the meetinghouse grounds in a clean, orderly condition.
• Follow warranty‑compliant maintenance procedures to extend equipment life.
• Report safety hazards and attend meetings or training sessions as directed by the Facilities Manager.

Required profile

• High school diploma plus 1 year of trade school or 2 years related experience.
• Ability to communicate effectively in oral and written English.
• Physical capability to lift, carry, climb, kneel, and walk long distances as described.
• Proficiency with computers, cell phones, MS Office, and department‑specific software.
