About the role
SMEC is seeking an experienced Resettlement Specialist to lead land acquisition and involuntary resettlement activities for major road and highway infrastructure projects in Papua New Guinea. The role involves preparing and implementing safeguard instruments while working closely with project teams and affected communities.
Key responsibilities
- Lead the preparation and implementation of Resettlement Action Plans (RAP) and Land Acquisition and Resettlement Action Plans (LARAP).
- Identify Project Affected Persons, vulnerable households, and affected assets.
- Support the execution of land acquisition and resettlement activities throughout project delivery.
Required profile
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Water Resources Engineering, Hydrology, or a related discipline (Master’s preferred).
- Minimum 5 years of experience in involuntary resettlement, preferably on transport projects funded by multilateral development banks.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Open to all genders.
