Senior Training & OHS Supervisor – Underground

About the role

The Senior Training & OHS Supervisor for Underground will lead daily occupational health and safety and training operations at the Porgera Gold Mine. This position acts as the operational bridge between the Underground Training Team, Employment Development Team, and the OHS department to ensure safety compliance and effective training delivery.

Key responsibilities

• Manage performance criteria and KPIs set by the Manager Underground Mining and Superintendent Safety and Training.
• Oversee the Underground Safety and Training Section in the Superintendent’s absence.
• Promote a proactive safety culture through safety walks, coaching, and engagement with underground teams.
• Lead or facilitate incident investigations and ensure timely closure.
• Deliver safety awareness via toolbox talks and coaching sessions.
• Support staff development and growth within the training and OHS functions.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years experience in underground mining, underground training, or as an underground safety officer/leader.
• PNG national, available to start immediately, and able to work FIFO (21 days on/14 days off).
• Successful completion of pre‑employment medical, drug/alcohol screening, and recent police clearance.
• Certificate IV in OHS, Certificate IV in Training and Assessment, or NEBOSH International General Certificate in OHS (preferred).
