Shotcrete Operator

About the role

The Shotcrete Operator will work under the Shotcrete Supervisor to safely and efficiently apply shotcrete at K92 Mining’s Kainantu Gold Mine. This role ensures proper preparation, placement, and quality control of shotcrete in support of mining infrastructure.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and clean surfaces, install anchors, reinforcement, and ground wires before shotcrete application.
• Operate shotcrete pumps and sprayers, controlling air flow and mix consistency to achieve required elevations, grades, and thicknesses.
• Maintain and clean equipment such as transmixer, shotcrete sprayer, hoses, and pumps; perform inspections and routine maintenance.
• Perform hydro‑scale heading to remove dust and ensure proper adhesion.
• Document work performed, log batch numbers, sprayed areas, and QA/QC data including core panels, cube samples, and slump measurements.
• Assist with related infrastructure tasks such as pouring concrete pads, constructing bulkhead or vent walls, and other construction activities as required.
• Report any problems or equipment failures immediately to the Shift Supervisor.

Required profile

• Valid driver’s licence (manual transmission preferred).
• Commitment to follow all mine safety rules, procedures and PPE requirements.
• Ability to work in a remote mining environment and perform physical tasks.

Required skills

• Operation of shotcrete pumps and knowledge of various shotcrete mix designs.
• Experience with Maclean and/or Normet shotcrete machines.
• Use of transmixer and shotcrete sprayer equipment.
• Hydro‑scale heading and surface preparation techniques.
• Concrete pad construction and bulkhead/vent wall spraying.
