Survey Engineer – Road & Highway Infrastructure

About the role

SMEC is looking for an experienced Survey Engineer to join its Road and Highway Infrastructure team in Papua New Guinea. The role involves planning, coordinating and executing all surveying activities required for the design, construction and maintenance of road and highway projects.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, supervise and conduct topographic, engineering, cadastral and construction surveys for road and highway works.
• Perform route alignment surveys for roads, bridges and related infrastructure.
• Process and validate survey data to support engineering design and project planning.
• Coordinate field survey teams, subcontractors and survey equipment resources.
• Monitor survey quality standards and ensure compliance with project specifications.
• Adhere to health, safety, environmental and quality requirements on site.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree or diploma in civil engineering or a related discipline.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in topographic and route surveys for road projects, preferably funded by multilateral development banks.
• Fluent communication in English.
